2Timer Help

Practical guides for humans, with structure that is easy for AI systems to parse.

Results and Reports

Purpose

View live results during a race, generate formatted reports for any audience, and publish or export final data to scoring websites, displays, and archival systems.

Prerequisites

  • Meet in progress or completed with at least some result data.
  • Events and athletes configured.
  • For outbound publishing: a connector or FTP/S3 integration configured.

Viewing Live Results

During a race, go to Results in the meet navigation. Results update in real time as reads are processed by active connectors.

Each event shows entries ranked by place, which is computed from each athlete’s best result — gun time, chip time, distance, or height depending on the event discipline.

When you are using a super-event, 2Timer can show a combined view for the physical race while still preserving separate sub-event placements and scoring underneath.

From the results view you can:

  • Edit individual entry results directly (add manual times, override status codes).
  • Mark an athlete DNS, DNF, DQ, or Withdrawn.
  • See split times if split markers are configured.
  • See group (age group) placements alongside overall place.

Athlete Outcome Statuses

Status Notes
Entered Registered but not yet finished.
Checked In Confirmed at bib pickup or staging.
Pending Arrived but result not yet recorded (road/XC).
Finished Has a result; included in place computation.
DNS Did Not Start — registered but never started.
DNF Did Not Finish — started but did not complete.
DQ Disqualified — removed from results.
WD Withdrawn before the race.
No Height Vertical jumps: did not clear any height.
No Mark Throws/horizontal jumps: no valid mark recorded.
Foul All attempts were fouls (field events).

The Reports Page

Go to Reports in the meet navigation to generate, preview, and export formatted output.

Custom Reports

Click Custom Report to build a report with full control over:

  • Scope — All events, selected events, or a specific division.
  • Split by — Gender, group, wave, team, or none.
  • Columns — Pick which fields to include: place, name, gender, age, grade, city, team, bib, gun time, chip time, pace, primary result, secondary result, team points, etc.
  • Top N — Show only the top N places per category.
  • Award winners only — Filter to one result per group per winner count.
  • Format — HTML, CSV, JSON, XML, or TXT.

Custom report configurations can be saved as templates for reuse across sessions.

For track & field field events, reports can also include the attempt-series output. Enable the field-series option when you want an Attempts column after the main mark instead of only the derived best result.

Output Formats

Format Use For
HTML Website display, scoreboard viewers, PDF printing
CSV Spreadsheet analysis, upload to scoring aggregators (MileSplit, AthleticNet, RunnerSpace)
JSON Custom display apps, API-style consumption
XML Legacy results systems, MicroStar, DirectAthletics
TXT Plain-text scoreboards, announcer sheets
HY-TEK results (.txt) Re-import into HY-TEK Meet Manager; athlete rankings and times
FinishLynx PPL/SCH/EVT Pre-race exchange files pushed to the FinishLynx folder via connector

Exporting Results

One-off Export

From the Reports page, click Generate on any canned or custom report. When the report renders, use the Download button to save the file in your chosen format.

Automated Publishing via Connector

For continuous publishing during a race, configure an outbound connector:

  • Local filesystem connector — Writes result files to a chosen folder on your machine (for display boards, local web server, etc.) on every change or at a manual trigger.
  • FTP/SFTP connector — Pushes result files to a remote server. Useful for live scoring websites.
  • S3/R2 connector — Publishes directly to a CDN or object store bucket.

Set the trigger mode to Event (auto-publish on result change with a debounce delay) or Manual (publish on demand).

HY-TEK Results Export

To send final results back to a meet director using HY-TEK Meet Manager:

  1. Go to Export in the meet navigation.
  2. Choose HY-TEK Results format.
  3. Select the events to include.
  4. Download the file and provide it to the meet director for import into HY-TEK.

XC Team Scoring

Cross country meets score teams based on individual finisher places. 2Timer computes team scores automatically when athletes have a team assigned, scoring is enabled on the event, and the meet’s scorer and displacer counts are configured (default: 5 scorers, 7 displacers).

Team results appear in the Team Results canned report and in the Overall Results report for XC meets. The XC Team Finisher List canned report adds team-first scorer/displacer detail for coach packets and export-style workflows.

If team splits or conference views do not look right, verify team codes and league membership first. See Teams and Leagues.

T&F Team Scoring

Track & field team scoring uses place points, not finish positions directly. The points ladder and maximum scorers per team are configured in Meet Settings (see Meet Setup). Only finals-round results count toward team points — prelim and semi rounds do not score.

Team totals appear in the Team Results report.

Super-event containers themselves do not score; scoring remains on the sub-events. See Super-Events.

Archiving the Meet

After the meet, export a full backup:

  1. Open Meet Settings or the meet home page.
  2. Click Export Meet (or Export .2t).
  3. Save the .2t file in a safe location.

The .2t file contains every athlete, entry, result, read, and configuration from the meet. It can be re-imported on any 2Timer instance.

Verification Checklist

  • Top finishers confirmed before publishing.
  • DNS and DNF statuses explicitly set — not left as Entered.
  • Groups (age groups) assigned and winner counts correct.
  • Team scores verified for XC or T&F meets before publishing.
  • At least one format of final results confirmed with the meet director.
  • .2t archive exported and stored.
