Scoreboard

Purpose

Control what every connected display board is showing during a meet, from one page.

Prerequisites

• At least one display connector — such as DisplayWorks — added on the Connectors page.
• Publishing enabled on that connector.
• Events, entries, and results far enough along that there is something worth showing.

What This Page Is

Open Scoreboard from the meet navigation. Its subtitle states the job plainly: manage what every connected display is showing.

Each display connector appears as a card. One card, one board. If no display connector exists yet, the page says so and points you at Connectors.

The card is where you drive the board during the meet. The connector’s own settings — receiver address, rows per page, paging behavior, board name — stay on the connector detail page, reachable from Edit in the card header. See Connectors.

Reading a Board Card

Each card shows:

• the board name and a Connected / Disconnected badge
• a now showing panel — what that board is currently displaying, and when it was sent
• the last error from that board, when there is one
• a note when something is blocking the send

The now-showing panel turns from a calm green to a warning tone when the board is disconnected, so a dead board is visible without reading the badge.

If publishing is turned off for a connector, the card says so and links you to the connector settings instead of offering controls that cannot work.

Auto-Follow vs Manual

Boards that support it get an Auto-follow / Manual switch.

Auto-follow

The board tracks the meet on its own — it follows the active event and updates as results change. The card states in plain language exactly what that means for this board, because the behavior depends on the connector’s filters. For example:

• Follows the active event. Results update automatically.
• Follows active track events. Start list sends before competition; official results update automatically.

Use auto-follow for a board that should just keep up with the meet without an operator watching it.

Manual

You choose exactly what goes out and press Send to this board. Nothing changes on the board until you send.

Use manual for an announcer board, an awards board, or any board that should hold one screen while the meet moves on.

What You Can Send

In manual mode, the card offers the screens that connector is allowed to receive:

If only one screen is enabled for that connector, the switch is hidden. If none is, the card tells you to edit the connector and choose which screens it can receive.

Choosing the event

For Results and Start list, pick the event with the event stepper. In track and field you also pick the Round and the heat or flight within it, so a board can hold one heat while the next one is being contested.

Team scores and Announcement are meet-wide and take no event.

Clearing a Board

Clear board blanks the display.

On an auto-follow board the same button reads Clear for now — it blanks the board, and auto-follow resumes with the next update.

Filters That Block a Send

Connector settings can restrict what a board is allowed to receive. On the connector detail page, under Filters:

• Results to Send — All, or Official only
• Events to Send — All, Track, or Field

Plus which screens the board accepts at all.

When your selection would fall outside those filters, the card explains why the send is blocked rather than failing silently. Sending unofficial results to a board set to Official only, for example, is blocked until the round’s results status changes or you loosen the filter.

Announcements and team scores are meet-wide, so the discipline filter never blocks them.

Recommended Race-Day Pattern

1. Add and start the display connector before the meet, and confirm the card reads Connected.
2. Decide per board whether it should auto-follow or be driven manually.
3. Set the filters on boards that must never show unofficial results.
4. Send a test screen — an announcement is the safest — and confirm it appears on the physical board.
5. During the meet, drive manual boards from this page; leave auto-follow boards alone.
6. Clear boards at the end of the session.

Common Problems

Verification Checklist

• Every physical board has a card, and every card reads Connected.
• Boards that must show only official results have the Official filter set.
• Auto-follow boards describe the behavior you actually want.
• A test send reached the physical board before the meet started.
• Manual boards are showing the screen you intend, not a leftover from an earlier event.
